Mr. Pettit is a Principal in the firm’s Philadelphia office. He concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance recovery, commercial litigation, employment litigation, and anti-counterfeiting. In his insurance recovery practice, Mr. Pettit exclusively represents policyholders in disputes with their insurance companies. Mr. Pettit has represented a diverse group of policyholders in a wide range of insurance coverage disputes throughout the United States. In his employment practice, Mr. Pettit represents employers, primarily involving claims of discrimination. Mr. Pettit also advises clients on matters relating to anti-counterfeiting and brand protection.

Activities
Mr. Pettit is active in the community, serving as a Board Member of the Playwicki Farm Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that oversees the preservation and use of a historic 110-acre public park in Lower Southampton Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He also serves as a member of the President’s Council of King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The President’s Council is a group of local and regional civic, business and community leaders who serve as an external advisory body for the President and senior administrators of King’s College.
Mr. Pettit is also a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Publications/Speeches
Mr. Pettit is a frequent author on a broad array of topics relating to insurance recovery and anti-counterfeiting. He also regularly presents on insurance recovery and employment topics, and has spoken before local, regional, and national business and trade organizations.
Previous Work
Mr. Pettit began his career by serving as an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. As an ADA, he represented the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania primarily in criminal appellate matters. Mr. Pettit wrote and submitted briefs to the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition, he argued a significant number of cases before Pennsylvania’s trial and appellate courts, including twice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Mr. Pettit was a Shareholder in the Philadelphia office of a national law firm based in New York City.
