Mr. Arvanitis' legal practice focuses on laws and regulations governing mortgage lenders, mortgage brokers, financial institutions and consumer finance companies. He regularly advises clients on state and federal compliance laws and regulations including fair lending, advertising, licensing, privacy, TILA, RESPA, FHA, FCRA, and BSA requirements.
Mr. Arvanitis drafts and reviews wholesale lending and mortgage loan purchase agreements, and structures loan originator compensation for mortgage companies. He also represents clients in federal and state regulatory investigations, and assists in related litigation matters. Mr. Arvanitis also works closely with Offit Kurman’s affiliate company, Strategic Compliance Partners (SCP), which provides compliance support and monitoring services for the mortgage banking industry.
Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Mr. Arvanitis consulted large financial services companies and banks on compliance change management, regulatory compliance, and advised on needed changes to the entities' operations, training materials, policies, and procedures. He also worked at a Top 5 bank where he managed litigation involving mortgage-backed securities, foreclosures, loan origination and servicing, regulatory non-compliance, and other consumer protection matters.
